Hello Everyone, most importantly IC vendors and AMI model makers,
An interesting question was raised in the ATM Task Group meeting on September 25, 2018
about Repeater IBIS modeling and simulations, and this week we decided to post the question
on this email reflector to solicit feedback from IC vendors and AMI model makers.
As you may be aware, a couple of BIRDs have already been submitted to address some
issues found with Repeater IBIS modeling:
http://www.ibis.org/birds/bird166.4.docx
http://www.ibis.org/birds/bird190.docx
In addition, a presentation and another BIRD draft can be found on the IBIS-ATM
archives web page:
http://ibis.org/macromodel_wip/archive/20170509/fangyirao/Problems%20in%20BIRD166%20Flow/Problem_in_BIRD166_Flow.pptx

Due to other, more urgent issues, this topic was not discussed in recent months,
but the question was raised whether we even need to continue working on this
topic. In order to answer that question, we would like to from IC vendors and
IBIS model makers to find out what they think about this topic, especially those
who manufacture Repeater devices.
Do you consider the current IBIS-AMI flow for Repeater modeling and simulations
flawed? Is there a need to make any changes in the IBIS-AMI specification for
Repeater models to function correctly, and if so, do you have any suggestions on
how to go about it?
Please reply to this email with your answers to these questions so we could decide
whether the IBIS specification needs any changes in this area.
Thanks,
Arpad
